Trick is a 2019 horror film that in many ways is a throwback to the 70s and 80s from the director of My Bloody Valentine 3D and Drive Angry 3D comes another knockout film with a star studded cast that absolutely shines and a wonderful Tom Atkins. If you love 70s and 80s horror films you’re going to easily fall in love with the atmosphere of this film as it features very little jump scare and just builds off tension. Even Jamie Kennedy is a blast here and I haven’t really seen him in much since the Scream franchise. Omar Epps is as cool as ever here and should be noted for his performance. Patrick Lussier has probably given us his best directed film yet he showed us what he was capable of in My Bloody Valentine which I absolutely loved and gave us one of Nicholas Cage’s top five performances with Drive Angry and now I’m really excited for what else he brings us. I wouldn’t be opposed of him rebooting another franchise like Hellraiser in the near future or if he worked with Blumhouse it can something really special for us horror fans. I do really recommend this movie for hardcore slasher fans.
3.5/5 stars.
