The True History of The Kelly Gang is a truly mesmerizing true story that has to be seen to be believed. The cast is pitch-perfectly cast. From Charlie Hunnam’s menacing performance to Nicholas Hoult’s charisma and George MacKay’s emotionally driven performance that may be better than his from 1917. Thomasin McKenzie from the memorable Jojo Rabbit is a natural scans stealer in every scene she’s in.
The direction by Justin Kurzel( 2015’s Macbeth) is brilliant along with the cinematography by Ari Wegner(Lady Macbeth, In Fabric) is Oscar-worthy and should be noticed when award season comes around this year… If it does.

The storytelling isn’t half bad as well, at points I think some the pacing problems could have been fixed by editing a few scenes out here and there but overall it’s solid in a year where theaters have been closed for some time this is a great movie to seek out at home.
