Zappa is one of the most iconic rock figures of all time, no matter how much he divides audiences. I for one love some of his stuff but most of his stuff I can’t get into. This documentary however, is fantastic. It’s some of Alex Winter’s best work as a director, coming off hot of Bill and Ted Face The Music, he hits another home run with Zappa.

Fans of Zappa may know everything included in the, I for one didn’t know a whole lot about Zappa aside from a few of his songs including Valley Girl, I was enlightened about Zappa’s journey throughout the documentary making this one of the most entertaining documentaries of the year and should get an Oscar nomination.

If you’re new to the world of Frank Zappa, Zappa is sure to entertain, it never feels overly long like most documentaries on musicians. This should help introduce a new audience to Zappa’s music and makes me want to listen to his music library. Alex Winter, you did a great job here sir!
