Tom Hanks may have an another Oscar Nomination on his hands if the voters can get past the terrible first 40 minutes of News From The World, which I have a feeling that a lot of audience members won’t be able to as is it dreadfully slow to start.
However, it does reward you with plenty of great performances throughout the second and third act if you do decide to stick around after the first act. As we have experienced people say ”it was so bad I couldn’t make it past the first 10 minutes”. A lot of people are bound to feel that way about this movie. I may be a sucker for Tom Hanks but I enjoyed it a lot towards the halfway point.
News From The World won’t be for everyone, as audiences for movies similar to westerns have seemed to die down quite a bit. It’s still an engaging plot with characters you care about, it should get a lot of Oscar Buzz this year.
