Synopsis:

When 80-year-old independent farmer Willis travels to Los Angeles for an indefinite stay with son John and his family, two very different worlds collide. Mentally declining, Willis’ abrasiveness is both caustic and funny, bringing old wounds from the past and years of mutual mistrust to the surface.

Review:

Falling is a poignant family drama, that features Oscar-Worthy performances all around from Viggo Mortensen(Lord of the rings, Eastern Promises) and Lance Henriksen(Aliens, Pumpkin Head, Near Dark) gives the performance of his life as Willis. An abusive husband and father, alcoholic who is dealing with dementia.

Even if I didn’t get to review Falling I would say it’s worth the $9 buy off digital platforms as I do already want to watch it again. The brilliance of this movie is within its subtlety, it’s quietly hilarious also between Viggo and Lance which is different to do in this storyline.

Then Falling has a raw and emotional power that will make you want to cry throughout the entirety of the film. This is an astounding directing job by Viggo Mortensen as well as the fact that this movie got snubbed from the Golden Globes is infuriating.

This is the perfect family drama to watch with your family on a Sunday afternoon, you’ll laugh, cry, and laugh again till it hurts.

Overall grade: 4.5/5 stars
