Barb and Star may be the best thing to hit comedy in a VERY LONG TIME and I honestly hope this launches an endless amount of movies where they travel the world because in a pandemic driven world we need laughter like this especially now. Brought to you by the gals who brought us Bridesmaids may have given an even funnier experience.
It seems almost impossible to do now where it hit all the funny notes and gives us unexpected hilarious breakthrough moments like Jamie Dornan(50 Shades of Grey, Synchronic) doing an hilarious musical number that still has me laughing days after seeing it happen. Also this movie has a knockout cameo from Vanessa Bayer(SNL) and Phylis Smith(Inside Out, The Office) who have undeniable chemistry together.
The writing is so special whenever this movie is eligible for awards the screenplay should be the talk of the town for at least comedy movies of the year as from this point on. Barb and Star set the bar so high it’ll be hard to top it. Especially in the past when movies features a lot of SNL alums you’re fearful there may be some gags that go on so long it turns you off. Barb and Star doesn’t suffer from that.
This is surprisingly one of the best movies of the year, one I had expectations it would make me cringe throughout instead it was the complete opposite experience and the comedy duo the world needs right now.
