Greenland is probably the most surprising disaster flick to come out in recent memory. Coming into it I wasn’t expecting much when I first rented it with my dad, not knowing I would also be getting the Blu for review but man is it worth it. It’s bug it’s loud and unexpectedly full of heart and charisma from Gerard Butler, in one of his best performances.
I was really concerned about Gerard Butler’s career at one point almost saying he could turn into the next JCVD if he’s not careful in what he selects. Greenland can help turn that around.
As far as the Blu-ray goes the sound and picture are top-shelf quality especially the booming sound is amazing throughout the film itself as well as the picture is crystal clear and spectacular. However, the special features are extremely disappointing with just about 3 or 4 deleted scenes that don’t add much to the story at all. One “Humanity” featurette that’s a trailer that would be played in preshows in front of theater movies if they were still open you would have had seen it multiple times. As per usual a directors commentary track as well.
Overall grade: 3.5/5 stars
