Nomadland deserves all the credit it’s getting, from its acting, directing, and cinematography! It’s a breathtaking marvel that is deserving of an Imax screen.
Synopsis:
A woman embarks on a journey through the American West after losing everything during the recession.
Review:
Nomadland is one of those movies you need to be in the right mood to watch. Similar to a Terrance Malick like his most recent fair A Hidden Life and Tree of Life. What Chloe Zhao does here is stunning. She automatically makes her a force to be reckoned with in the future of filmmaking.

This is also not a very uplifting movie, it’s not exactly going to lighten your mood. However, it is worth the watch even if the pacing is really slow. It may take the casual viewer a couple tries to get through, because I’ve seen too many times people say “I couldn’t even get through the first fifteen minutes”
This does feature a lot of award worthy stuff from the writing, acting and directing as well. It’s one of the more beautiful movies to look at this year Frances McDormand has been in so many classics so it’s hard to say it’s up there with her best, but it is an Oscar-Worthy performance.
Overall Grade: 4/5 stars
