French Exit is the perfect surprise for the first quarter of 2021, one of those rare movies that was released this early in the year, that could get its leading actress an Oscar Win at least a nomination because Michelle Pfeiffer is a phenomenal firecracker in French Exit that may go down as one of her best performances.

Lucas Hedges is always a thrill to watch. He’s been bit of an old school actor in the new generation, picking small art house films instead of the blockbusters that get him an international audience. He proves his method right here again. As Michelle’s son he’s in a great role if sobering compared to Michelle’s character.

Imogen Poots also has a fantastic small role and she always delivers I wish she was in the movie a little bit more. Danielle Macdonald is the real scene stealer including stealing scenes from both Lucas and Michelle, which is hard to do in this film. This may go down as Danielle’s breakout role.
French Exit is a damn beautiful movie for sure if you’ve been worn down by Star Wars, Marvel, DCEU and Fast and The Furious for the past few years. This is a nice movie to take a breather from the big budget studio films.
