Oh boy, there are some stage plays that do not translate well into theatrical movies and ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ is a perfect example of how a studio and casting director simply misfires on every step of the way.

Ben Platt is miscast to an extreme disadvantage to the movie failings. I get he was in the broadway play playing the part but somewhere someone had to say, could we not get anyone that does not look 30 playing this part? Julianne Moore is also atrocious as ever, I’m trying to figure out what happened to her career? She used to be a go to actress for so long, but now is she the female Bruce Willis where she just phones in all of her performances now?
This is a frustrating experience for any movie fan and also any musical fan. The songs in Dear Evan Hansen are forced through your ears almost making it seem like they’re bleeding through your ears. The cinematography in a film like ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ should be captivating and mesmerizing, however, it turns sloppy fast. The 2 hours run time feels like you are watching a miniseries of 10 episodes.
Danny Pino and Amy Adams should get the worst on-screen couple for this year’s Razzie awards. Most of these performances are easily the worst the year has to offer, the Fast and The Furious may have dodged a bullet with the release of ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ it has not been a great year for Universal Studios. Some of me are now hesitant to be excited about ‘Halloween Kills’
