Synopsis: CIA agent Mason “Mace” Brown joins forces with a rival German agent, a cutting-edge computer specialist and a Colombian psychologist when a top-secret weapon falls into the hands of a group of mercenaries. Together, the four women embark on a breakneck mission to save the world while staying one step ahead of a mysterious figure who’s tracking their every move.
The 355 is a surprisingly entertaining non stop action thrill ride that features a slew of badass ladies kicking ass throughout the film. If you saw the trailer for this then you might be thinking it looks extremely generic. Luckily, that isn’t the case with this film as it often over delivers on its simplistic premise.
Diane Kruger, Penelope Cruz and Jessica Christian lead the force here with an excellent supporting cast featuring the now rarely seen Edgar Ramírez and Sebastian Stan who usually plays the likeable Bucky in the MCU, plays a menace here that is to be reckoned with. The international sub plot of The 355 may put it towards a female James Bond knockout if the performances weren’t amazing by everyone involved.
There were some flaws including some of the direction by Simon Kinberg. However, it didn’t dwindle the movie too much so that it suffers from it tremendously as he does nail the action sequences. Although The 355 is not groundbreaking it is still very enjoyable throughout making it one of the first 2022 movies to see on the big screen. See it on Dolby Cinema this weekend if you can. The action sequences are worthy of that experience!
