The Phantom of the Open is the best sports movie of the year and nothing else will top it, it also features an award-worthy performance from its lead Mark Rylance who stars as an everyday man who somehow managed to get himself into the Open without being a professional golfer. The story is stranger than fiction. When we think of sport-themed movies we think of Rocky, Eight Men Out, and Field Of Dreams. The Phantom of the Open doesn’t quite reach the heights of those films but it is enjoyable as hell.
We know what we are going to get with Mark Rylance as the lead, it’s time to speak about the supporting players of Thd Phantom of the Open. Sally Hawkins delivers such an enjoyable performance as Jean Flitcroft. As well as the lovable kids played by Christain and Jonah Lees who steal the show as the most supportive kids ever in their dad’s dream to be a professional golfer.
In the end, The Phantom of the Open is a great time to spend with the family at the movies or at home when it’s available to stream. I would recommend it to any sports movie fan, even if you are not a golf fan like I am, you will enjoy this film.
