Synopsis: Leslie, a West Texas single mother, struggles to provide for her son when she wins the lottery and a chance at a good life. But a few short years later the money is gone and Leslie is on her own living hard, she is forced to make a difficult choice.
To Leslie is Andrea Riseborough‘s best performance since Possessor Uncut. Her tour de force role is one of the most sobering acting you’ll ever witness this year in 2022. While the pacing may be dreadfully slow, it features award-worthy performances throughout the entire cast from the likes of Marc Maron who is at the top of his game and Alison Janney is a firecracker to watch.
This is a film you should seek to watch in cinemas, the cinematography is breathtakingly cinematic in every way you could imagine. Andre Royo is an underseen actor that should be recognized for his sobering work here as well, I’ve always been a fan of his work but he commands the screen in ‘To Leslie’.
The film is no new ground, for the story being told. But the actors in the film keep it afloat, with their humbling and sobering performances, I am excited to see what Michael Morris does next with his film.
