The rookies, unfortunately may be a front runner for the razzies next year with some of the worst dubbing I have ever seen. Yet I’m not surprised to see Milla Jovovich do a movie like this as it is rare for me to find her a likeable actor. The roles that are tailor made for her always seem so bland and lacking personality, for instance, how most people perceive Kristen Stewart is how I perceive Milla.
I did really want to like this movie has it seemed like an international B-Movie rip off on Lupin the 3rd and James Bond. However, where rip-off in the past proved to be fun and somewhat cheesy to watch in a good way. The Rookies just flat out lacked inspiration. I felt the main actor in this was the only one trying to make it enjoyable, everyone else around him clearly wanted a paycheck.
The editing wasn’t that bad to be honest, I could see the main actor and editor from this breaking out to doing bigger and better productions in their future even if it is mainly overseas. I doubt the audiences here in the states will like this movie at all. It’s a misfire for sure and should be avoided like a plague.
