The Fanatic Review

The Fanatic shows us a side of the talented actor John Travolta that we have never seen before I wouldn’t necessarily classify this as a flat out horror film even though it’s one of the better psychological independent thrillers of the year giving us John Travolta his best performance in years. As a crazed fan after Hunter Dunbar(Devon Sawa. Final Destination, Idle Hands)a popular young actor. I mean Moose(John Travolta. Battlefield Earth) is OBSESSED WITH HUNTER is a huge understatement I’ve dealt with being obsessed with someone like this and it isn’t healthy I’m glad that part of my life is over. I didn’t really care for Hunter Dunbar’s character in this film even though Fred Durst is notorious for giving us uneven characters some we care and some we flat out despise. Which in some cases work but here he falters amongst that line again. I once had someone on my friends list try to take credit for the character portrayed by John Travolta if that is the case I don’t really want to meet him. Overall however this a bright spot in John Travolta’s twilight of his VOD releases and this is on his upper scale of his recent films.

Synopsis:
Moose is a rabid movie fan who is obsessed with his favourite celebrity action hero, Hunter Dunbar. When he is cheated out of his opportunity to finally meet Hunter, Moose gets a little help from his friend Leah, a well-connected paparazzi photographer, who knows how to find celebrity homes. Moose turns to stalking to get the celebrity interaction he feels he deserves, and while harmless at first, Moose’s actions begin to take a dark turn as his obsession grows stronger. As the visits continue to escalate, Hunter Dunbar finds himself in increasing danger.

Final grade:

3/5
